360° - from Engineering to Production: HSHL students visited HEGGEMANN AG at Airport Paderborn-Lippstadt
Learning from a lightweight construction specialist was the motto for students of the HSHLBachelor's degree course in "Mechatronics". As part of the lecture "Production Engineering", the students went on an excursion to HEGGEMANN AG in Büren, where they gained interesting practical insights. HEGGEMANN AG develops and manufactures complex ready-to-install structures and systems for the aerospace and automotive industry.
After an introduction to the company with its products and processes by Dr. Christian Howe, CEO of HEGGEMANN AG, a tour through many production areas of the company followed. The students experienced the manufacture of products, such as battery holding systems for electric vehicles or aircraft landing gears, along their complete value chain live, from product development, forming, milling operations, welding as well as tempering to quality testing.
"For the prospective engineers, the excursion was an interesting insight into development and production and thus a complete success", says HSHL Professor Dr.-Ing. Michael Wibbeke, Department "Manufacturing Engineering Mechatronics", who initiated the excursion. "We would like to thank Dr. Christian Howe very much for these insights".
