HEGGEMANN AG is hosting „SPACE Deutschland e.V.“
On Thursday, HEGGEMANN AG hosted the first official members' meeting of the German "SPACE" (Supply Chain Progress toward Aeronautical Community Excellence).
The initiative was launched in 2016 by the German aviation association "SPACE Deutschland e.V.", with the aim of sustainably increasing the international competitiveness of the European supply industry through targeted improvement projects. „SPACE Deutschland e.V.“
Throughout Europe, more than 200 companies are already members of the association. Around 50 of them are medium-sized and large companies from Germany and provide a lively exchange among the aerospace players in the annual general meetings and SPACE network events.
At the first official members' meeting representatives of AIRBUS and its system suppliers, as well as many medium-sized companies in the aviation supply industry, had the opportunity, in addition to the formal part of the general assembly, to participate in a series of interesting specialist lectures and discussions on the subject of "Digitalization in aviation industry ".
The contribution of the host HEGGEMANN was:
"Digitalization and Industry 4.0 - from the request to the finished product - from the point of view of a medium-sized supplier".
Founded in Paderborn in 1962, the family-owned company started as a supplier of metallic components for gliders and has become a respected partner to the aerospace and automotive industries with a focus on developing and manufacturing complex metallic lightweight structures.
The consideration of the latest digital industry 4.0 standards has been used for years in the modernization of processes and processes in the company. All steps of the product development process were analyzed and optimized from the offer phase through development to delivery to the end customer in interdisciplinary teams from all divisions. The basis is formed by consistently networked software solutions that enable a minute-by-minute online evaluation of each individual step and create transparency about the status of the more than 10,000 individual parts that the company produces each month. Thanks to the transparency gained, the different divisions can be controlled with just a few key figures.
At the same time, the different departments have the opportunity to define and measure new efficiency measures.
The HEGGEMANN AG team prepared an exciting day for around 70 people including factory tours and was delighted with the lively exchange among colleagues from the aviation industry.
The SPACE members at Paderborn-Lippstadt Airport, the headquarters of HEGGEMANN AG, gained interesting insights into the work processes of a total of 200 employees behind closed doors. At the same time, the entire value creation chain is realized for customers, from product development through series production to the production of ready-to-install structures and systems.
